Abstract
(en) This study about the conspiracy to overthrow Athalie reported in 2 Kings 11 highlights the narrative procedures used to ensure that the reader approves the coup fomented by the priest Yehoyada and two heads of guards in order to restore the power of the Davidic dynasty. Attention is focused on the superior position of the reader reinforced by inter and intra-textual links, the game on suspense and curiosity, variated use of points of views, irony and the use of direct speech. What is highlighted in this way is that telling a story is always to manipulate the narratee.
