- Child’s language in the beginning of stuttering is below the averaged level for age and sex on the area of phonological abilities, lexical access and syntactic structures. This special feature contribute to fluency disorders. In addition managed by his or her mother. The « motherese » describe the special feature of mothers speech and language adressed to her child comparatively with the special feature of her speech and language in interaction with an adult. 10 mothers were recordered in verbal interaction with her child (4 to 6 years) who stuttert. The records were analysed with crossed regards, in comparison with normally developping children.The mothers success to reduce their speech and fluency. However, very subtile dysfonctions largely unconscious in their linguistic and pragmatic adjustment to their child could contribute to maintain the linguistic difficulties of the child probabely resulting in speech difficulties development linked to stuttering.
