Cardiac computed tomography angiography is particularly valuable in patients with prosthetic valve infective endocarditis who have contraindications to transesophageal echocardiography (TOE), or when TOE is limited by heavy calcifications or the prosthetic valve, offering at least equivalent sensitivity for detecting abscesses and pseudoaneurysms.
