- (en) [Dissociation : conceptualization, utility of juncture with scarification and protocol of intervention] The article talks about dissociation. We shall evoke the debates surrounding the conceptualization of the dissociation, usually defined as an auto-hypnotic state involving an altered consciousness and impacting on various dimensions of the psychological functioning of the individual. Dissociation may also be referred to as a mechanism of preservation against a potentially traumatic factor. Scientific literature states there is an implication of the dissociation in the recourse of superficial self-mutilation. We shall try to clarify the nature of this implication and give the hypothetical contribution of such an intricacy, especially compared to the controllability as well as to the particular report concerning the pain. We shall conclude an original model of intervention, developed by one of us and called protocole ARENE, allowing to avoid resorting to the self-mutilation when this one seems to be in connection with the release or the stop of dissociative symptoms.
