(en) This article highlights the effect of secondary school on the probability of aspiring towards higher education in French-speaking Belgium. Different ways of viewing and facilitating the transition between secondary and higher education are identified through our questionnaire which surveys concepts and practices implemented by a representative sample of secondary schools that inform students on higher education. When all other criteria are equal, we found that students who attend a school attentive to this transition aspire to go to university twice as much as those attending a school little concerned about this issue. The implications of these results are discussed in the conclusion.
