- Abstract
- Computer learner corpora (CLC) allegedly serve two main purposes: (1) by providing a better description of interlanguage and a better understanding of the factors that influence it, they contribute to Second Language Acquisition theory; and (2) they contribute to the development of pedagogical tools and classroom practices that more accurately target the needs of the learner. This article examines the success of CLC in serving this second purpose, investigating the contribution they have already made to pedagogical applications and asking whether learner corpora are fulfilling the expectations placed on them.
