- The photographic series Gradiva is a key work in the artistic production of British artist Victor Burgin, who has made leading contributions as a representative of Conceptual Art and a photo theorist. This is one of Burgin's first pieces in which he had recourse to psychoanalytical concepts in order to investigate the constitution of the subject. The book situates Gradiva within both Burgin's work of the 1970 and the early 1980 and the context of feminism, poststructuralism and psychoanalytical theory.
