(en) Interpreting evidence in the arteriovenous (AV) access literature is challenged by the heterogeneity in terminology and the lack of standardization in outcomes. Below some of the terms used in this guideline are listed and how they have been interpreted in the context of this document. Because guideline development necessarily relies on aggregate data from systematic reviews and other individual studies, we can only hope to provide the user with conceptual definitions for certain concepts and outcome domains.
