Abstract
A new aza-capped tripodal complex, [(4,6,8-triazaundecanedioato)-6N,N'-methano-(beta-alaninato)-cobalt(III) (abbreviated as Co-III[baza]), results from an in situ reaction of cobalt(II) sulfate, beta-alanine, formaldehyde, and ammonia. Its crystal structure analysis is presented together with a brief discussion of its formation as arising from a Mannich aminomethylation-cum-capping reaction.
