This contribution starts with a brief presentation of the problem of the Numeruswechsel between the 2nd person plural and singular in addressing the Israelites in the book of Deuteronomy. Besides this 'classical' Numeruswechsel, which, in general, does not really have an influence on the content of the text, the cases of the Numeruswechsel between the 1st and the 3rd person, really have an impact on the content of the text: it is not the same when Moses speaks about 'my commandments I gave you' or about 'his commandments I gave you'. In the LXX, these problems that characterise the MT are absent. Never-theless, especially in light of the textual data in the Dead Sea scrolls literature and the SamP, and the possibility that unintentional misreadings – in particular the interchange between ו and י – can be at the origin of the variants, it would be too easy to quickly conclude that the LXX has smoothed out these problems of the Hebrew text, thus giving absolute priority to the MT. Regardless of the origin of the variant readings in MT and LXX of this specific type of Numeruswechsel, they confront us with problems of content – not to say 'theological' problems – of the text of Deuteronomy.
