Abstract
This research, entitled "Deinstitutionalization, continuity of care, inclusion: transformations and mutations in mental health policies. Belgium and Ecuador” is based on the articulation of research axes that cross the chosen fields, both in Quito and in Brussels. These axes, which explore deinstitutionalization as a step towards the community and a critique of asylum and asylum reason, are linked to a vision of hospitality as welcome in the community through continuity of care and services decentralized from institutionalism and one-dimensional psychiatric rationality into inclusive, empowering community alternatives. The creation of conditions for the return to society and communities, fostering social inclusion and the generation of autonomy, are the elements that interest this research that goes from global mental health to the transformations and mutations of policies and institutional implementation, the reception in each society and its tensions, the impact on public action and participation, as well as on the rationalities that nourish professional debates and political and economic agendas that determine fundamental elements of reforms, models and political strategies.
