Abstract
(en) The 1st May 2004, ten countries entered in the European Union (EU). These new member states are expected to adopt the euro when they will be ready to do so, but not immediately upon accession. The timing of the enlargement of the euro zone to those countries is thus a core policy issue. In the literature about the Optimum Currency Area, the similarity between economies has often been presented as a "meta-criterion", this paper presents measures of those similarities between EU countries.
