Abstract
The objective of the paper is the design of a temperature controller in a nuclear power plant. First, a linear quadratic optimal control law is calculated via Chandrasekhar equations, applied to an augmented system consisting of models of the plant and measurable disturbances and of a reference model the dynamics of which prescribes the transient behavior of the closed-loop system. Then, an anti-reset windup scheme is introduced for compensating the saturation nonlinearity in the actuator. Combination of both results in transient responses which are practically independent of the amplitude of disturbances. Performances and robustness of the control system are tested via simulation.
