Abstract
An expert system for the identification of linear multiple input single output systems in ARARX form, written with the OPS83 rule-based programming language, is presented. Provided with a data set, the expert system will organize an intelligent search through the set of candidate structures, and end up with a `best' model according to a `quality index' that incorporates a number of validation criteria. Tests on both industrial and simulated data have shown that the expert system behaves as well as human experts, with considerable savings in time.
