Abstract
In 1975 the Soprintendenza di Ostia conducted an excavation under the floors of the Caseggiato dei Lottatori, unearthing numerous plaster fragments belonging to Fourth Style walls and ceilings. Although the excavators defined the fragments as "di ottima qualità", the plasters remained unpublished until recent years. These wall paintings, even if extremely fragmentary, bring new data concerning the pictorial production of Ostia before the massive urban reassessment of the Hadrianic period
