Abstract
The idea that maximal prosodic units are signalled by both a fall of F0 and a declination line is challenged in this paper. Firstly we propose to substitute the concept of "resetting" for the problematic notion of declination line. Then we demonstrate that both elements (the fall of F0 and the resetting) do not exclusively appear jointly when producing a prosodic unit and that their (dis-)joint appearance produce different interpretative effects.
