Abstract
Raman spectroscopy is a very specific detection method for chemical structures, although only about 1 in 10 million photons are Raman scattered. The Raman signal can be increased by Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) where the electric field intensity is increased by the presence of metallic nanoparticles (NPs). In this work, the impact of the surrounding medium is analysed to increase the electric field even further. We also show that the location in depth of the NP inside the medium is important.
