Abstract
The links between the narrative thread of Tobias’ marriage in the Book of Tobit and the scenes of the marriage of the patriarchs Isaac and Jacob in Genesis 24 and 29 were never systematically explored. This is the topic of this article (which considers the short text of Tb). After noting the recurrences of the theme of endogamous marriage in Tb, the other reminiscences of Genesis are examined before exploring their scope: it is a narrative strategy designed to convince the implied reader of the relevance of endogamous marriage and the effectiveness of God’s action in the present of the believers.
