(en) In this narrative review, the author, a privileged witness to exciting developments in the field of lupus nephritis over almost 4 decades, describes and comments on the new therapies that have recently become available, after years of trial failures. He stresses the use of combination therapy, now widely supported by expert recommendations to mitigate the risk of chronic kidney disease. He reviews the early days of cellular therapy and proposes some further lines of research.
