- (en) Social incubators support unemployed people in the creation of their entrepreneurial project. Beyond economic development activities, the mission of these organizations is first and foremost social. While the coexistence of social and economic logics of action is central in these incubators, we observe the occurrence of a ‘shift’ promoting the economic referential, which could eventually jeopardize the existence of these social incubators. In order to understand the nature, the evolution and the impact of this change, this article examines the case of three social incubators situated in Wallonia. Building upon this empirical analysis, this contribution approaches this shift through the prism of New Institutionalism while emphasizing both the pressures exerted on the initially dominating logic of action and the anchors for the emerging economic logic. Finally, questioning the dialectic articulation of these logics of action, this contribution puts forwards the managerial implications by addressing the challenges raised by the management of social incubators.
