This article focuses on an aesthetics of memorial recognition and shows how this aesthetics is related to a photofilmic dimension that goes beyond the context of one particular media. The first section of the paper deals with a philosophical approach (Bergson, Deleuze, Ricoeur) of the question of recognition in order to understand the aesthetic implications resulting from awareness of this memorial phenomenon. The second section, devoted to the work of the French filmmaker Henri-François Imbert, helps to indicate how moments of recognition involve an interlacing of images and specific media practices.
