Abstract
The Caseggiato delle Taberne Finestrate is a particularly rich context for the understanding of pre-hadrianic painting in Ostia, with one of the largest amount of plaster fragments found in the excavations, dating from the 2nd c. BC to the middle of the 2nd c. AD. Over 3000 fragments of various dimensions were studied and recomposed, which allowed identifying several decorations of First, Second and Fourth Style among them. Thanks to a funding of the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique – FNRS, it was possible to conduct archaeometric analyses on 21 samples. In this paper we will present only the results of the analyses on the Fourth Style fragments.
