Abstract
The "In the Footsteps of Ryckmans" exposition (1951-52) is one of the public outreach deliverables of the "In the Footsteps of Ryckmans" project made by the UCLouvain - KU Leuven research units in partnership with the King Abdulaziz Foundation and the Saudi Heritage Commission. The exposition includes 10 posters visually communicating the findings and results of the large-scale epigraphical survey conducted in October 2023 in Saudi Arabia: (1) Introduction: the exhibition (2) Jeddah: Tower Houses (3) Pre-Islamic military expeditions in the Hejaz (4) Prehistoric stone structures (5) Kufic script (6) Old Arabian Inscriptions documented by the Philby-Ryckmans-Lippens expedition (7) Daily expedition life (8) Hunting and battle scenes (9) From mudbrick villages to fortified stone cities (10) Methodological evolution: from notebooks to digital photography.
