Abstract
(en) This article focuses on the interplay of masculinities in the context of the army of Flanders (late 16th-17th centuries), between the warrior masculinity of the military and the priestly masculinity of Jesuit military chaplains. Based on unpublished sources and books of the time, the meaning of the word "virility" for the religious involved with the military is also analysed.
