Abstract
By examining a playwriting workshop designed by Belgian writer Paul Pourveur that I observed (June 2022), this essay looks at a new format of playwriting workshop that proposes to its participants to write from stage improvisations. It firstly shows how this type of workshop goes beyond the binary and reductive conception of playwriting that circulates in Europe (playwriting would be a creative process that differs chronologically and/or artistically from other creative acts in theater such as acting or directing) by freeing itself from the model of a " two-step " theater (Gouhier). Then, the paper identifies the national and international specificities of P. Pourveur's workshop, before highlighting the complexity, challenges and paradoxes raised by such a workshop format.
