Abstract
(en) Review of the book by Ousmane Sidibe mentioned under this heading. Ousmane Sidibé holds a doctorate in law from the University of Bordeaux (1983) and specialises in employment law, with a particular focus on social protection issues in Africa. He is one of the most respected intellectual figures in Mali, where he was Minister of Labour, then Commissioner for Institutional Reform and, from 2015 to 2022, Chairman of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission. This last mandate took him all over the country to meet the people. Ousmane Sidibé is also a top-flight researcher, as demonstrated by his academic career, notably at the University of Bamako and as a member of the Scientific Council of the Institut d'études avancées de Nantes for many years. "Rethinking the status of work" is the result of this exceptional and atypical career, and he draws on its many facets.
