(en) [Evaluating the chronic pain disability in the perspective of the International Classification of Functioning, disability and health] The need of a biopsychosocial approach of chronic pain syndromes, in which somatic, psychological, social and cultural factors coexist, is well established. However, the evaluation of these factors remains complex. To promote a synthetic view, we suggest to ground on the International Classification of Functioning, disability and health, well known by rehabilitation professionals. This classification, which promotes a multidimensional approach, has the advantage of being universal. However, its use in chronic pain is limited by the absence of categories for the evaluation of personal factors, whose importance in the onset, chronification and maintenance of pain, is well known. Therefore, we suggest to use the International Classification of Functioning, disability and health as a reference frame and not as an evaluation tool. For this purpose, we propose a selection of validated tools allowing the evaluation of the chronic pain syndrome, its functional consequences in terms of function, activity and participation, as well as the influence of contextual environmental and personal factors
