Abstract
(en) A few recent pontifical texts argue that there exists a correlation between a crisis of metaphysics and a crisis of truth, an offshoot of relativism. After showing that the phrase “crisis of metaphysics” is actually multivocal, the article then focuses on the presupposed identification between the “rational” and the “universal”. Building on the idea that a discourse’s rationality – marked by free choices – manifests itself more through the possibility of universalisation than through universality “per se”, the A. claims that diagnosing the crisis as a “crisis of metaphysics” results from articulating the question of universality and truth in metaphysical though by no means universal terms.
