This paper considers point to point transmission over frequency selective channels by means of OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing), and enhanced by means of a decode-and-forward (DAF) relay. Assuming that perfect channel state information is available at the transmission side, this paper intends to solve the problems of power and bit allocation for goodput maximization. A greedy approach is proposed where the number of bits to be allocated is increased one at a time till a maximum value of the goodput is reached. The performance of the algorithm is illustrated with simulations, and compared with uniform power allocation and waterfilling approaches.
