Abstract
The author deals with the main current research on the religious world of the Mapuche, a people who live in the reservations located in the south of Chile. The contributions of history, sociology, anthropology and semiotics are discussed. Allusion is also made to the complex problems that arise from the ever-closer contacts of traditional religions lenders with the modernizing agents of Chilean society. A bibliography of the main published studies completes the article.
