Assessment of (social) impact and impact of assessment in social enterprises : a transdisciplinary research / Évaluation de l’impact (social) et impact de l’évaluation dans les entreprises sociales : une recherche transdisciplinaire
While social enterprises are under increasing pressure to assess their social impact, the implementation of such an assessment raises a number of epistemological, methodological, political and organisational issues. It is against this background that the thesis aims to deepen the knowledge on the implementation of social impact assessment, going beyond discourses and based on concrete experiences over a long period of time. Using a transdisciplinary, constructivist, mixed and critical research approach, it sheds light on the following questions: What effects can be revealed through a social impact assessment? How can a social enterprise overcome the conflicting considerations that emerge during a (formal) social impact assessment process? What effects can social impact assessment have on a social enterprise? How can a social enterprise develop an appropriate (relevant and accepted) social impact monitoring tool?
