Abstract
(en) [Understanding and Care Management of a Child Suicide Attempt] At a time when scientific progress authorizes greater longevity and better health, the individual surrounds himself by multiple defences when facing death, a death which is sometimes feared to the point of denial. Many adults find it difficult to deal with the death of a child or with the suicidal ideas in this situation, due to the unacceptable aspect of the situation. In the child, the suicidal act is more an impulse rather than a reflection. The author proposes a discussion on the suicide attempt of the pre-pubescent child, by underlining some aspects related to the concept of death, as well as by approaching the psychic mechanisms which underlie this concept, by evoking the principal elements of the assumption of responsibility, moreover in the light of clinical situations.
