(en) [Sports medicine: for whom and for what?] Although most sports physicians are primarily concerned with diagnosing and treating sports injuries of the locomotor system, sports-induced medical conditions may develop in numerous other systems, especially in competitive athletes. Hence, sports physicians are likely to become involved in several different aspects of sports medicine. Within sports medicine, «exercise medicine» is a rapidly developing domain that addresses major public health concerns related to physical inactivity.
