Abstract
(en) Even today, the distinction between historian and theologian seems to be used to separate two ways of approaching the New Testament. However, this distinction, which was invented in the 19th century, is based on a now outdated literary vision: the Gospels would be a kind of novel that some would read with credulity and others with suspicion. Not only has novelistic theory evolved considerably, but the paths taken by contemporary exegesis have made these questions completely obsolete.
