Abstract
(en) The article presents and assesses the Orthodox influence on Congar. It shows how Orthodox influences can be detected in the vocabulary of "Chrétiens désunis". In a language that emphasizes its visible and social aspects, the Church is presented as a "theophany" or a "christophany" in a collective and societal form: the mystical and visible Body of Christ. Famerée then assesses Congar's main book on the laity, "Jalons pour une théologie du laïcat" (1953), where he referred explicitly to the "sobornost" of the Slavophile thinkers. The article shows how Congar started from this idea in order to consider not only a "principle of collegiality" in the hierarchical order but also a "communitarian principle" on the level of the whole Church. Therefore he suggested translating "sobornost" as "collegiality" in the comprehensive sense of "communion". One concludes by pointing to work that remains to be done by means of a study of Congar's volumes subsequent to Vatican II.
