Abstract
This letter details the methodology of, and my approach to, the reduction of thermal noise in terrestrial interferometric Gravitational Wave Detector (GWD) prototypes through the implementation of Higher-Order Mode (HOM) beam parameters. Keenly focused on the refinement of 6th order Hermite-Gaussian (HG) profiles, this experimental demonstration reports the design and commissioning of input optics, production of an ultra-stable laser source, and application of a Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) to overlay a quadratic phase profile effectively altering the fundamental Transverse ElectroMagnetic (TEM00) mode.
