(en) From the experience of a clinic of work, this article draws attention to a particular event: the symptom which appears, as a bird pecking on the window, in the life of individuals and institutions which are thus put in a state of crisis. A clinical symptom contains potentialities of transformation as well as power of destruction. We try to identify the operations needed for the clinical setting to operate as a revealing indicator of the symptomatic event. On specific conditions, which we discuss from a clinical case, the symptom can then become a vital event, putting a state of apparent normality into crisis, bringing a turning point into the situation.
