Abstract
The thermal decompositions of K3Fe(ox)3 3 H2O and K2Fe(ox)2 2 H2O in nitrogen have been studied using Mossbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis methods in order to determine thc nature of the solid residues obtained after each stage of decomposition. Particularly, after dehydration at 113-degrees-C, the ferric complex is reduced into a ferrous compound, with a quadrupole splitting of 3.89 mm/s, which corresponds to thc anhydrous form of K2Fe(ox)2 2 H2O.
