(en) Breast cancer treatment evolves towards ever more-conservative and targeted therapies, which have been shown to improve patients’ quality of life, without aggravating their prognosis. Breast reconstruction constitutes now an integral part of cancer management. Oncoplasty and immediate mammary reconstruction combine local breast cancer control and breast reconstruction in a single surgical time. The techniques’ advantages are obvious in terms of overall cosmetic quality of the reconstruction and psychological life experience, provided that the patients have been informed and have not withheld their consent. The oncologic safety of these surgical options, as well as their specific benefits (extension of margins, psychological aspect, etc.), have been clearly demonstrated so far. Good collaboration between gynecologists and plastic surgeons is essential to improving outcome.
