(en) Spatial and visual devices abound in Hélène Lenoir's work. In Son nom d'avant(1998), the house is a touchstone to identify contemporary tensions between public, private and intimate, studied, among others, by Richard Sennett and Michael Foessel. This article aims to analyze how the eye determines the staging of a private house rather than an intimate home. We then study an excerpt that combines scopic devices and the treatment of space to understand Lenoir's work on the intimate. The study of the final episode allows us to conclude on the dilution of the commonly accepted opposition between space and place.
