Abstract
The main objective of this article is to account for the context in which Religious Education Pedagogy takes place in Chile. First, context will be described from the perspective of history and professional development of teachers; then, based on the data provided by the Ministry of Education during the period 2011- 2016 in terms of teacher development, the places where research was carried out, among others. Finally, data will be interpreted in the light of previous research and standards for teaching practice in the classroom according to current educational policies.
