Abstract
The 2018 Quebec general election witnessed several breaks and firsts for the province. These included strong signals of the collapse of the party system and, belatedly, a limited mobilization surrounding the long-standing cleavage of Quebec sovereignty. In this paper, we explore another distinctive feature of this campaign: the prominence of immigration in electoral debates and, more precisely, the novel discussion of issues surrounding immigration levels and immigration programs in a Quebec election campaign.
