(en) [A discussion of the notions of victim and trauma in relation to situations of childhood ill-treatments] Ill-treatment, in its various forms, constitute socio-family circumstances likely to cause multiple traumas. Victims of ill-treatment during childhood regularly present difficulties of an emotional, relational, cognitive, somatic and behavioral nature. The consequences of ill-treatment endured in childhood have thus the potential to continue throughout life. Ill-treatment constitutes one of the main causes leading to the state of a victim, whose traumatic psychic repercussions are taken into account today. In addition, it has become evident that the victim as a social figure is largely present on the public scene. Thus, beyond of an individual situation, the victim occupies a considerable area on the social level. This importance involves ineluctably various standpoints, sometimes radically opposed, given the numerous representations conveyed at each and everyone. Thus, the concepts of victim and trauma are closely bound not only by a linear but also by a generally circular link. We develop these concepts on the basis of considerations in connection with the child and of his current status. The question arises as to the existence of cultural relatedness as what could be termed as « intercultural shock ». The reflection will continue around the benefits and especially the risks for the child, because he has become an invaluable good, a rare commodity. He is a young subject who needs to be protected from all dangers or threats. He is also the child of desire, desire more and more planned and programmed. As to the traumas, we will approach them from pychopathological and clinical aspects, by distinguishing trauma from description of stress. Thereafter, we will gather four clinical presentations in relation with specific intrapsychic features in situations of childhood ill-treatment. The concept of « complex psychological trauma » will finally be evoked which has been advanced to account for the multiple impacts of the ill-treatment of children
