This chapter assesses China’s industrial policy and some of its global implications. It will explore how the interventions of the Chinese state contributed to the transformation of a number of national champions into global giant firms that can even outperform EU firms in certain industries and services, examining how this has led to increasing tensions with the EU and the other most developed economies.
