DEAR EDITOR, The thorough meta-analysis by Palawaththa et al. on congenital anomalies and maternal niacin intake, provides important prevention opportunities. Their statement, however, that synthesis of NAD+ from tryptophan also requires dietary niacin may confuse readers [...].
