- (en) Modes of reading, collective space and age of the pupils The article is about two axes of questions connected to place and time of the reading: 1° does the young reader mobilize his skills differently when he is in a school environment or in a less forced frame ? 2° how does he evolve in this skills as he advances in age ? These questions led us to observe the modes of reading distinguished by Dufays (2010) in different places (the class and the children's outdoor activity center) and at different ages (with pupils from 5 to 11 years old). Of these modest observations result two reports, which consolidate and specify previous works : 1° The frame of the reading doesn't influence the 5-6-year-old children, but it exercises a strong impact on the postures of reading of the 10-11-year-old children ; 2° between 5 and 8 years, the evolution of the modes of reading is evident, the pupils diversify their attitude in front of text and develop many skills, which will still progress more at the end of primary cycle. Thus, the skills of reading progress gradually, evolving from an intuitive dimension towards a more and more conscious and thorough dimension.
