Abstract
Lackme's (1979) model has proved to be very adequate for describing critical flow of initially subcooled water flashing through long tubes. However there remains a crude approximation which consists of estimating the single phase flow length by the total length of the tube. The authors present some methods which allow one to avoid this approximation. They first replace Lackme's model among the other approaches for critical flow problems and describe its main features. Then they propose two ways of accounting for the two phases flow length in order to get rid of Lackme's approximation. The last section presents encouraging comparisons between the authors results and three independent sets of experimental data.
