Abstract
This survey goes through the different stages of research on Jesus: from positivist claims to find an "objective" Jesus of history, to the evidence that the subjectivity of the interpreter forbids such a view, we now realise that in a historical approach, the theologian has his place: we cannot avoid the question of the meaning of Jesus' message about God.
