Abstract
Bridging the gap between the educational outcomes and employers' expectations is key in order to boost the competitiveness of translation programme graduates on the labour market. To cater for this challenge, translation pedagogy needs to become more focused on specific domains of knowledge placing a special emphasis on cross-cultural awareness. The article presents aBased on the case study of the course in translation for specific purposes developed for third-year students in the Translation Bachelor Programme (Russian – English) at Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, the article analyzes the structure, content and outcomes of the course designed for the banking and finance module with a major focus on the cross-cultural training.
