Abstract
This paper provides a preliminary overview of paintings found during the 2022 excavations in the suburban area of Ostia Antica. They came from a large 3rd-century CE hall, further flanked by an apse (Sector 1) and from a complex sequence of heated rooms and drains, revealing a prolonged continuity of life (Sector 2). Both sectors yielded a significant number of finds, including collapsed plasters from walls and ceilings. Despite its fragmentary state, this evidence enhances our knowledge of the rich decorative apparatus of these buildings, which also included polychrome marble, glass paste, and black and white mosaics.
